For Fulmer: Weather, Or Not!

Vol Head Coach Phillip Fulmer's last-minute absence from a high school coaches clinic in South Carolina is making news down there-- and at first glance, the headline is less than complimentary.
Fulmer skipped the session due to bad flight conditions into Hilton Head Island.
On Monday, Bob Murrey of USA Coaches Clinics told me Fulmer's absence "was not an issue" with the high school coaches who attended.
However, one coach I spoke with on Monday said, "Fulmer not showing-up left us scratching our heads. We were looking forward to hearing from him and we were disappointed he didn't come."
And it didn't sound like he bought into the weather excuse.
I hate to fly in even remotely-bad conditions. So, I'm siding with the coach.
But..
Fulmer loves to recruit the Carolinas. Relationships with high school coaches are critical to achieving success. In this case, Fulmer may have lost some clout, weather-- or not.

JIm anything Fulmer would do
JIm anything Fulmer would do would not surprise me. I can write a book about the overpaid Big Man.
He lives about 2 miles from us..built his 1 million plus home in a flood area out of sight of anybody. He just wants to be left alone.
Last but not least...when legendary Coach Bobby Bowden was a lay, guest speaker at our local Madison Avenue Baptist church, during a revival meeting, the house was full and a seat was reserved for Fulmer to sit beside the great man...know what?
A no show! Which is what I would have expected.
May sound like sour grapes but my opinon of the guy.
