A Double Dose of Bad News

Granted, I am taking a personal approach to today's column-- but that's what this is all about, isn't it?
I am saddened today by two events.
The death of former NFL All-Pro receiver Jack Snow. He was among my first childhood sports heros. When it came to watching the NFL-- I was a Los Angeles Rams freak. My favorite players were Roman Gabriel, Jack Snow and Deacon Jones. Snow's death at age 62 came much too soon.
Also today, one of baseball's best players missed election to the Hall of Fame. Jim Rice didn't post automatic career Hall of Fame numbers-- less than 400 home runs, fewer than 3000 hits, less than 1500 RBI, and a sub-300 batting average. But during the 1970s and 1980s, Rice was one of the most dominante players in the game. He played 16 seasons and put up outragous offensive numbers in many of them. Rice was an 8-time all-star and the American League MVP in 1978. He deserves to be in Cooperstown.

Sorry Jim, I don't agree
Sorry Jim, I don't agree with Fulmer's trick at all, in fact, one has already changed his mind...the criminal, in my opinion, who should have never been allowed back on the team.
This is a first for this 76-year-old football fan and after all, what is so great about having 5-6 players return....more of the same....we shall see.
The Sanders deal still stinks to high heaven, in my book. The fall guy, with little money. If Fulmer wanted to impress his critics, he would have shared some of his overpaid salary with the school..ala Pat Dye and Joe Pa.
I enjoy channel six...I remember you from Bob Gilbert's radio show at Olympia..also, we talked to you in Dallas in 1990 at a restaurant.
We will always be channel six viewers. And thanks for letting me vent.
