A Few Vacation Thoughts

I've been out of town, but not out of the loop.
The preseason college football posturing has started. Matt Hayes of the Sporting News places Phillip Fulmer, and a few other big name coaches, on the hot seat in '06.
It's not mid-June yet, but NBC has started hyping the Manning vs. Manning showdown on September 10th.
I plan to be in Nashville for the Titans NFL opener. I'll miss covering McNair. Titans fans better hope he doesn't do what Roger Clemens did after leaving the Red Sox (washed up, and too expensive--they thought). Twelve years has taken a huge toll on Steve's body. But give him a solid offensive line (Jonathan Ogden) and a productive running game (Jamal Lewis) and he might make another playoff appearance.
The Titans will miss the postseaon again. I know, it's a no-brainer.
Miami wins the NBA finals in 6. And I've already spotted Dallas a win.
I hope Michelle Wie plays the men's tour someday soon. Better putting would have qualified her for the men's US Open. She can fix that. The rest of her game is scary good. By the end of this weekend she may have her first LPGA title-- and a major at that.
Even though few people outside Raleigh (in the U.S.) seem to care, the Stanley Cup Finals (except for game 2) have been outstanding.
Is the Belmont over? The NFL survives without betting. Except for the Kentucky Derby, horse racing dies without the $2 window.
My niece Megan's lacrosse team finished their season 11-1-1. Congrats to the West Genesee (NY) Middle School Wildcats. They looked awesome winning their final game of the season last week. Update: Florida becomes the second SEC school to sanction a women's lacrosse program. Vanderbilt's the other.
