Judge Fulmer

A respected colleague pointed this out. To him, Phillip Fulmer's new get-tough policy with football players doesn't make sense.

A projected starter gets arrested-- and is suspended by the head coach.

A projected back-up isn't arrested, but is accused of making an inappropriate comment to a female--and he's kicked off the team.

In the military, rank has privilege. Apparently that works for Fulmer too. But this ain't the military. It's far from it.

Fulmer won't say what the inappropriate comment was. In effect, he's got no comment-- on the comment.

By several accounts, the arrested player had no previous discipline issues. The other player apparently did.

Perhaps it's Fulmer's multiple offense policy. One strike, you're in the dog-house. Two strikes, you're heading home to Wisconsin. Unless, of course, you can chase down and flatten Chris Leak on September 16th. Then, well, we might waive that go-home thing.

Fulmer's trying make sure he doesn't have a repeat of last spring's marathon legal parade by Vol football offenders. He also says the majority of UT football players are good, law abiding guys. He's right.

But appearance is everything-- and at least to some, the application of punishment this week doesn't make sense.

That's laughable. Cal, UF,

That's laughable. Cal, UF, UGA, Bammer, LSU and perhaps Arkansas will send Fulmer packing this fall. Long overdue for this Vol fan. He fiddled while our offense burned.

How can ANYONE argue with

How can ANYONE argue with Coach Fulmer's winning percentage?
Sit back, relax, and enjoy Tennessee football.
Coach Fulmer will be back on top-THIS COMING SEASON!
"nuff said!!

Of course people can be held

Of course people can be held accountable for what they say or write..ask your forum admin.....although his thinking is as convoluted as Fulmers...and just as inconsistent.....I do think it's silly to kick a football player off the team for saying something...football players aren't suppose to be choir boys...if they want choir boys maybe Fulmer should be coaching at Brigham Young, Liberty, or some other religious school..What we're seeing is known as passing the buck....Fulmer is still angry over last season..and if you look at the record..offensively UT has been going downhill since their championship season and hit rock bottom last season...Fulmer, after blaming the assistants now blames the players..and is continuing to shift responsibility for the past season......He needs to accept and admit that he has failed as far as recruiting/ providing the team with enough skilled players especially at the wide receiver position....and has failed to diversify the offense.....Sure players will make mistakes and need to be punished on an individual basis....sometimes the police officers need to avoid instigating things to get another arrest done...like notches on the best of a gunslinger...Each case should be considered on its own merits or lack thereof.

You can't blast the program

You can't blast the program for a lack of discipline and then complain when discipline is applied.

I'm sure that this is not what Coach Fulmer wanted to do during a recruiting period, but it sends a message that if you're going to wear the "T" you're going to be held accountable for your actions.
