Chasing Neuheisel in LA

Despite all the bashing, LA is a great sports town. Fans here are different-- more fractured than in most cities, but consider this: The Sparks played here Thursday, the Angels are hosting the Rangers all weekend, Southern Cal opens at Virginia, NASCAR races in Fontana on Sunday, the Dodgers return home Monday, and UCLA hosts Tennessee on the same day. The Lakers, Clippers, Ducks and Kings open training camps soon. UCLA basketball isn't bad either. Lacking an NFL team, yes. Lacking for options.. nope.
Our 6 sports crew spent the day shooting a story at the Rose Bowl, and chasing down an interview with UCLA Head Coach Rick Neuheisel for our pregame special on Monday. Pictures of that coming soon.
With the help of our Los Angeles affiliate KABC, we did three live shots outside the Rose Bowl. The time zone issue presents a challenge working on the road. All stories must be shot, edited and filed by 1:45pm. Working ahead is a must. So is eating fast. Chief photographer Jason Byers is seen growing impatient at the In & Out Burger, a Southern California fast food institution.
The Vols arrive tomorow night. Gameday is almost here.
