Bama Upset-- Could Happen

A win over a hurtin' Mississippi State team won't turn this season around. But it's a start. It wasn't just the win-- it was how the Vols did it.
After the game, I asked defensive coordinator John Chavis if he felt this was the best the Vols played on defense all season. His reponse-- no question about it.
I know, it sounds obvious. But consider how good the Vol defense looked against UCLA, with four interceptions. But allowing two late-game scoring drives killed that positive vibe. Since then, the UT-D has been nearly as inconsistent as the offense (ie: late second-half versus Georgia).
But this game may have put them over the top. After pressuring MSU's quarterbacks the entire game, the Vols saved their best for last. Three interceptions, two returned for touchdowns in the 4th quarter, ignited the crowd, sparked a win, and may have helped turn-around a season.
Beating Bama won't be easy. Lately, it never is. But if it's going to happen, the Vol defense will once again have to lead the way-- perhaps all the way to an upset.
