Vols Factor in #1 Controversy
I love college football polls.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a college football playoff system, but even in if that were to happen, the polls would still play a huge part in determining who makes the playoffs.
This week, the first BCS poll was released, and it's given us instant controversy. Florida is #1 based on a system that uses computers and humans. Alabama is #1 in this week's Associated Press poll, which uses only a human element-- if you consider members of the media actually, well, human.
One person with the best perspective on this, is Vols head coach Lane Kiffin, who, oddly enough, could find himself in the middle of a controversy that he didn't create this week.
The Vols played Florida on September 19th, and gave the Gators fits.
The Vols will play Alabama this weekend in Tuscaloosa, and based on what I've seen from the Crimson Tide this season, it likely won't be as close, or as uplifting, as Tennessee's Gainesville experience.
I think Alabama is worthy of a #1 ranking, the one that really matters-- in the BCS poll.
Unfortunately, for the Vols, Bama will be out to prove that this weekend.
