NFL Draft Dodger
Last week, I managed to avoid a tornado, an earthquake, and the NFL draft.
Really, all three.
The tornado and earthquake were easy. They hit a few miles from where we live and were relatively minor. Fortunately nobody was hurt, damage was minimal and the wrath of God stuff was over quickly.
The NFL draft was tougher. It lasted three days-- about the same length as a sinus infection, wrote a Cleveland, Ohio newspaper columnist.
In reality, I didn't totally avoid the draft. I hate to break it to ESPN, but in the age of Twitter and NFL/email news updates, who needs the hype that comes with Kiper's hair? I got most of my information on my mobile phone. It saved me a bunch of time-- and allowed other options with my limited time off.
I did drop in once, during the first round, and in a weird clash of timing, it was when Tim Tebow was selected by Denver and Tennessee's Dan Williams was taken by Arizona.
Good for all the guys who were drafted. Good the fans who watched on television. Good for those Jets fans who gave up a night at the Met or the Guggenheim to show up.
But not me. Like a good quarterback, I passed.
