Fourth of July
The Fourth of July is our best holiday. I can say that without hesitation.
While Memorial Day is often celebrated with picnics and a day off, in truth it's a day to remember those who died fighting for our nation. The holiday part should be secondary to the real meaning. The same goes for some of our other holidays and religious observances.
But the Fourth of July is different.
Independence Day is a party. We can celebrate it as such, and as the photo shows-- we do.
A neighbor lit-up the sky, and we had a front row seat from our house.
In the forground is my nephew who, in addition to reciting the complete results of the 2010 NBA Playoffs bracket, and the results of all number-one seeds in the 2010 NCAA Tournament-- managed to celebrate with a much safer display of pyrotechnics-- a sparkler.
Made for a good photo, and a memorable Fourth of July.
