Keeping up with Bryce Brown
It was fun while it lasted. And in reality, I should have built it sooner.
The mystery surrounding Bryce Brown's tenure at Tennessee led me to develop this-- the Bryce-o-meter, the only sure way to update viewers in a matter of seconds.
Brown was a nationally recognized high school prospect when he came to Tennessee in 2009. He played here one season, but after a coaching change, Brown mysteriously disappeared from spring practice. His status was a mystery all summer-- even to the head coach.
It's still a mystery. Some media outlets have reported that Brown split Knoxville without talking to Derek Dooley. Another said he texted his farewell.
The Bryce-o-meter doesn't register stuff like that. It's a simple machine. Here or gone. That's it.
The Vols start practice next week, and while UT hadn't officially announced anything, we had clues. His picture and bio were missing when the UT football media guide came out last week.
The Bryce-o-meter spiked on that day.
Despite hope things might get reconciled, it's over now. Bryce is gone and he's not coming back.
I should have included Long Gone on the meter.
