Shocking Development

Only in Philly.
Had this photo been taken in any other city, I'd be shocked. Ok, bad choice of words.
But for some reason, it fits in Philly. I'm not saying that's good. I'm not saying that's bad. I'm just saying.
At first glance, cop with taser drawn on khaki-shorts wearing Philly fan seems more than slightly over-the-top. We don't know the kid's name, but he is, afterall, a kid-- a teenager. Is a taser really necessary?
I have my thoughts. One goes something like this: If you don't want 50,000 volts turning you into a twitching idiot ON the field-- don't make an idiotic decision to jump the wall and run on the field in the first place. Everything I've read seems to indicate most people who have an opinion believe the police did the right thing here.
But I do have a couple of questions.
First, how many fans inside the stadium actually thought the officer was using a REAL gun? I'll bet the uncertainty of all this went over well with the family of four in section 352.
Second, I thought tasers were to be used in extreme situations-- when confronting an uncontrollable suspect. Philadelphia police admit they are reviewing last night's incident.
Here's what I am certain of.
If the Phillies win the World Series-- forget cops on horses. The tasers worked just fine.

Taser
It's simple when you break the law or run from the police they can use whatever means needed to subdue you. The police did nothing wrong in this case. A dumb teenager was taught a leason.
Going Too Far
Tasering stupid fans is going way too far. All they had to do was herd the young man to
one side of the field and take him into custody - with a ride to the jail. Fans have been
running onto ball fields since games were incepted. This is more over zealous bully type
mentality that is growing with enforcement.
Tasers should only be used for "real criminals," not a supid fan getting on tv. If this is
now considered a crime, then it is time to put and end to all sports.
Look at this kid, he has on a Phil's shirt. How much did that cost? What revenue percentage
did MLB and Philadelphia make?
