Text Message For: The Rocket
Submitted by Jim Wogan on April 25, 2007 - 12:54pm.
I heard the the NY Yankees are text messaging Roger Clemens, hoping to pursuade him to return to the Bronx (only on days he's pitching, of course) to bail out a team floundering in the early season.
I am sending Clemens my own text:
Rocket, don't do it! You were good. Very good. But you can't help them. You're 44, for cryin' out loud. Their rotation is a mess. Guidry's at the mound too often. The bullpen isn't what it used to be. Seen Mariano pitch lately? I know, they're hitting. But come-on, how long can A-Rod really keep this up? Ok, don't answer that.
Admire your seven Cy Youngs (three, I remind you, were won in a certain other baseball crazy city), enjoy your family, read the box scores each morning, starting thinking about some old-timer, er, memories games appearances, but whatever you do, don't fall for it.
Thanks,
A Sox Fan
The NCAA is considering a proposal to ban college coaches from text messaging athletes. I think it's a good idea. I also think the NY Yankees should adopt it.
