Basketball Excuses

Like it or not, we in the U.S. are finding out the "us against the world" concept doesn't work very well. Even in basketball.

We can continue to make lame excuses with bloated egos about how "our" version of basketball isn't suited to the international game, and that it doesn't matter. But the fact remains-- we're getting our butts beat by better teams, and it does matter.

It happend four years ago in Indy. I happened two years ago in Athens. And it happened again today in Japan. We thought we had the answers. Young, hungry players committed to a team concept and a solid coach who preaches defense.

Yes, there are flaws with how we put together international teams. But the excuses don't count for much on a day when we lose to Greece 101-95.

There's no

There's no doubt that the game has been completely hijacked by selfish, money hungry, big headed, not so ready for prime time, wannabies. There are no "teams"
