Vols Want 2004 Repeat In Athens

I vividly remember the vibe going to Athens in 2004. Totally negative. I remember the drive from Atlanta into Athens on that day, and not one Vol football fan who called-in to an Atlanta-area radio show gave Tennessee a chance to win. The Vol callers were passionate, supportive, and loyal. And they were ALL resigned to believing the Vols were going to lose.

And why not? I was among them. The Vols were beaten badly by Auburn the week before. Erik Ainge threw a record 5 interceptions. The Bulldogs were ranked 3rd nationally. They had five All-SEC players on offense. The Vols had none. The Bulldogs also had a three on defense, including two future 1st round NFL draft picks (Pollack, Davis).

But the Vols weren't listening. They beat Georgia 19-14. So much for pre-game vibes.
I always look forward to going to Athens. Really. Game outcome aside. It's a wonderful college town, has more personality than say, Gainesville. 2004 made the trip there extra special.

Athens sucks! Everytime I go

Athens sucks! Everytime I go down there they show very little class. At least the swampies know how to talk trash with class. Even the women down there are ugly. GO VOLS!!
