College Football Thoughts

Some quick thoughts as the Vols head into December with a new appreciation for playing in the postseason:
*The Capital One Bowl (formerly Citrus) is still possible. The Citrus used to be a nice consolation prize for the Vols-- and the punchline for a Steve Spurrier joke. But this year, it could be the grand prize. Times change.
*Nothing is certain until Sunday, December 3rd. But a Florida win over Arkansas in the SEC Championship could be the key to a UT bowl game in Florida. Yes, Vol fans, start cheering for the Gators.
*I have no idea (yet) if Robert Meachem will return for his senior season at UT. If I had to guess-- I'd say he's gone. But much of that depends on his projected draft status-- and that can't, and won't be determined until after a bowl game.
*I have serious questions about Arian Foster returning to UT next season. Nothing firm. Just a professional hunch.
*Based on past experience-- there are two teams I never want to see UT play in the postseason. Penn State or Nebraska. Look up previous scores.
*Initially, I was sold on an Ohio State-Michigan rematch for the BCS Championship. But Southern Cal has changed my mind. The Trojans deserve a shot-- if they beat UCLA.

Hi Jim One question keeps
Hi Jim
One question keeps coming to mind........How many players are the Vols going to be able to recruit and sign this year for football? One sight quoted that the Vols only had about half of the number of recruits to verbal already. To my count there is already 22 verbals, and it is hard to beleive that over 409 will be recruited. Which leads to the assumption that several of the early verbals mnay be turned down. Do you know if this is the case or not????
