Tampa Latest.. Monday (Game Day)

The calendar says 2007, but it feels like 2005.
The Vols suffered a miserable flashback, and were sent to Outback Bowl oblivion by Penn State. The Nittany Lions beat Tennessee 20-10 on a dreary day in Tampa.
There were plenty of problems. Fumbles. Dropped passes. Interceptions. Penalties. Oh yeah, and Penn State's got a pretty good defense.
The Vols generated 350 yards offense. But most of it was inconsequential.
This year's team took pride in purging the pessimism of 2005. In many ways they succeeded-- and not just in football. This team was easy to like, respect, and quote. Seniors like Marvin Mitchell, David Ligon, Jonathan Wade, and Turk McBride will also be missed.
The challenge for those remaining-- making sure the Outback Bowl flashback was a one-game thing.
Covering this year's team was enjoyable. Spending a week in Tampa was memorable. But I'm glad to be heading home to Knoxville.
