Pearl Goes Shirtless

Bruce Pearl caused quite a ruckus at Thompson-Boling Arena Monday night when he went shirtless, and painted his body orange to show support for the Lady Vols.
My take on this: No harm, no foul.
Pearl's intentions seemed sincere. And for those who say he's self-promoter. I say, so what! Don't you remember the sad state of UT men's basketball in the years before Pearl came here?
Pearl's move was a stunt. But it took some degree of courage or insanity. Probably both.
Let's get real. Pat Summitt has 930 career wins, 6 national titles, and her name is on the court at the arena. She's a class act and has made women's college basketball a high-profile sport. No one can touch, take-away, or damage that. Not even a half-crazy men's head coach, who let it all hang out-- just one time.

I think Coach Pearl is the
I think Coach Pearl is the very best that coaching has to offer. He is a great strategist, he has very strong disciplinary standards and endless enthusiasm for the game. He is a very passionate coach; I love all of this. But, perhaps the greatest trait is that he is fun and he is inclusive - his players know that they have his support. And, now the Lady Vols know that too. Coach Pearl has added so much enjoyment to our viewing pleasure. You know ESPN also called us trailer trash in 98 (or 97) and they didn't give Peyton the Heisman. What do they know?
